Alaska Fly Fishing Trip
March 3rd 2010
Having never been fly fishing for Alaska salmon before, we were completely baffled as to what we were going to need for our 2010 Alaska fly fishing trip. We were going to the Capital of Alaska Salmon Fishing, Soldotna Alaska, in search of the mammoth sockeye salmon that return to the Kenai River every year.
Our guide of choice is a 20 year Alaskan professional Kenai River salmon and rainbow trout fishing guide that also offered affordable lodging in one complete package. He also was the only one we found that looks forward to taking people out that have little to no experience in Alaska fishing and introducing them to the thrills of hooking into these feisty salmon for the first time. This quality was important to us when we were searching for that perfect outfitter to host our group of habituated salmon fishing enthusiasts. Our choice of an outfitter did not happen by chance, we realized that we were in need of a guide that possessed a great deal of patience and understanding as we were all newcomers to the sport of fly fishing; none of us had ever cast a single fly before this.
So I was chosen to set out and find just such a person to guide and teach us the finer art of Alaska flyfishing and I was told that there would be no room for error. Nice guys I choose to run around with, actually, I was given this task as I was the only retired person in the group thus having the time to research our needs and find the perfect fishing guide service for our needs.
